The Leaf design from Romanesque Monogram Set 12 has a three-color manual seed stitch fill, with a satin stitch border. The fill is evocative of 1930 fashion, where textured fabrics were widely used on women's hats and jackets.

In the version offered on our website, the leaf has a stem that points down, and there are designs provided for a two-letter monogram, with the initials placed inside the satin stitch border.

For a simple variation, we took the leaf design and rotated it so that the stem is pointing up. We then chose the letter A from the Arabesque Monogram Set 5 - the smaller of the two letter sizes, then resized it down a bit further so that the initial fits comfortably within the border.

The overall size is 3 1/8" (82mm) tall by 2 1/2" (63mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
