Monogram Styles Used:
- Princess Monogram Set 3
- Frames Monogram Set 2
A vertical monogram can be interesting and unusual. One way to visually establish which is the first initial and which is the last initial would be to make one larger than the other. We wanted to try another way - using thread colors.
We started with two initials - A and C - from the Princess Monogram Set 3, tucking the C in comfortably below the A. To provide this monogram with some formal stability we added Frame E from Monogram Frames Set 2. As usually happens when elements are combined that hadn't originally been conceived together a bit of adjustment was necessary. Enlarge the frame a bit, reduce the letters a bit until the the elements looked comfortable together.
We chose light yellowish thread colors for the frame and the upper initial - compatible but not exactly the same. We chose a light purpleish color for the C - A darker color to emphasize that it is the last initial
The overall size is 7 1/4" (184mm) tall by 5 3/8" (136mm) wide.
How we made these monograms
Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
