Monogram: N

Fancy - but not too fancy. Geometric - but not too geometric. Heirloom - but not too heirloom. Sometimes hitting the mid-points can be tricky.

For this single initial monogram, we started with the letter T from Moderne Monogram Set 10, which is digitized with fairly wide satin stitch columns, so it stands out. To give it more decorative appeal, we looked for something to surround and anchor the overall monogram, and were attracted by the detail in Frame E from Monogram Frames 1. It seemed to enhance the overall design to rotate the frame 90 degrees to make it a diamond shape. Slight adjustment (smaller) was needed for the N so that it would fit better in the central opening. The N is sewn in a bright harvest yellow, and the colors in the surrounding frame are softer and quieter.

This distinctive large monogram would look great on towels or on a pillow.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
