Monogram: S

While everyone is sheltering inside at seems a good time to be creative with your embroidery software program.

For this monogram we started with trying to build a "base" - an abstract or semi-abstract construction, from existing initials, that could serve as something for a letter of the alphabet to stand on.

The Art Deco Monogram Set 13 is a good candidate, since the letters are squared off, with leaf embellishments. Turning the letter D on its side creates a nicely balanced set of shapes. Making a mirrored copy extended the idea, and lets the leaf and stem motifs create a shape like a vessel, into which a larger letter can nestle. We chose the letter S from the Moderne 9 XL Monogram Set, as one of many possible style combinations. This is a large monogram that would look great on a pillow or a shower curtain.

The overall size is 10 1/4"(260mm) tall by 7 1/4"(184mm) wide

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
