Monogram: S

Often a symmetrically balanced design will be just as balanced if it is turned upside down.

This is true of the outer decoration for the Romanesque 11 XL Monogram Set. We started by rotating the design 180 degrees, then eliminated the interior letter. Next, we went looking for a new interior letter to replace it for this single-initial monogram.

After a few miscues - some were too wide, some were too thin - we settled on the letter S from the Baroque 2 Monogram Set. The letter has a manual seed stitch surrounded by thin satin stitch columns. Taken together, and with some thread color balancing, the result occupies the available space without overpowering it.

The overall size is 7" (177mm) tall by 5 3/8" (136mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
