Monogram: KEB

In a three-letter monogram, the conventional style is to have a larger central letter - the last initial - flanked by smaller letters on the left and right. These initials can be first and middle initials for an individual or first initials for both parties in a couple who are creating a blended monogram.

These three initials are often aligned on a center line, but that isn't the only option. For this monogram, utilizing vertical, square letters for a masculine style we chose a different alignment for added interest.

Starting with the letter B from our Art Deco Monogram Set 5, we added flanking letters K and E from Art Deco Monogram Set 6. These letters have thinner columns, and are compatible, but not identical. The two side letters are aligned along their top edge, and the center letter is shifted down so that its top edge aligns with the center of the flanking letters.

This arrangement opens up a space in the upper center - which cries out for something to fill it. Baroque Monogram Set 1 has small accent designs that are open-center rings - still geometric but circular, not square. We added three - to balance the three letters in the monogram.

The overall size is 2 3/8" (60mm) tall by 2 5/8" (68mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
