Monogram: K

Starting with the ring and bow embellishment from the Circle 5 XL Monogram Set - almost anything that's round will fit inside this element. We started by enlarging the ring motif to 10" (254mm) tall.

For this large single initial monogram we chose the letter K from the Arabesque 8 XL Monogram Set and eliminated the two-color brackets, leaving only the initial. A slight adjustment to the height of the letter allowed it to fit comfortably within the ring.

Although just these two elements looked fine, we decided to add a bit more decoration (and interest) in the open spaces on the left and right of the letter. A design from Monogram Flourishes: year 1943 seemed the right choice, with additional ring details, and flowers.

The overall size is 10" (254mm) tall by 7 7/8" (199mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
