Monogram: AM

The letters from Gothic Monogram Set 15 seem to lend themselves to being stacked - one above the other.

For this two-letter Monogram we used the smaller initial A above the larger initial M. Although the size differences between them are subtle, the letter order also emphasizes that the M is the last initial - it's a bit bigger, and the A sits atop its shoulders.

We wanted to formalize this monogram with some additional structure, so we merged the left and the right versions of one of our Monogram Flourishes 1 (Year: 1938). This design can be spaced as needed. The first thought was to use our software to either make the flourishes larger or the letters smaller so that the overall size would be similar. But after seeing how comfortable everything looked together in the original sizes we dropped that idea.

The overall size is 6 5/8" (169 mm) tall by 3 3/4" (95 mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
