Monogram: CEG

We have an extensive collection of heirloom monogrammed handkerchiefs - see our Monogram Museum for some examples. Among this collection are several examples that combine compatible, but not strictly matching letters into attractive monograms.

For this project, we wanted to create a three-letter monogram in a generally oval shape, but do something to distinguish the last name initial placed in the middle. The starting point is the initial G from our Olympia Monogram Set - digitized as a two-color design. The flanking initials C and E were selected from our Oval Monogram Set 1, resized slightly smaller so that their height aligns with the angular sides of the G.

This monogram is done for linens, and intended to be sewn white-on-white. This color scheme unifies the overall design, while providing a bit of extra complexity for the last initial.

The overall size of this monogram is 3 1/2" (89mm) tall by 2 5/8" (67mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
