Monogram: L

In order to make a larger single initial for a set of towels we started with the letter L from our Applique 3 XL Monogram Set. Although this is a design that is often used with a fabric applique insert, it can also be used without this option.

This open satin stitch letter has plenty of opportunity to add details within the letter outline. To provide a stylish Art Deco look we chose one of the designs from Monogram Flourishes 1 - a design with circular satin stitch embellishments, a shape with a manual seed stitch fill, and satin stitch lines. The design is called "Year:1939". We used only the left version of the design, and stretched it a bit vertically in our software so that it fit better inside the letter L.

The overall size is 7" (177mm) tall by 5" (127mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
