Monogram: CEG

In much of North America we are still in the grip of cold weather in mid-winter, but it isn't too early to start thinking about spring.

For this three-letter monogram we started with the center letter G from Applique Monogram Set 6, which has a gently rounded shape in satin stitch. We chose a blue-green thread color, and a gentle light yellow fabric color for the applique portion.

We wanted the flanking elements to compliment this choice, and to be lighter overall. The initials C and E came from Art Nouveau Monogram Set 5. The letters in this style have a combination of curves and straight sections, and are pointy on the bottom - a nice contrast. This style also contains small embellishments for use on the left and right. We found that by rotating them they take on the look of abstracted flower stems - just the springlike feeling we were looking for.

The overall size is "3 1/2" (89mm) tall by 5"(128mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
