The Talk of the Town - 1930

Movie: The Talk of the Town - 1930

Director: George Stevens

Synopsis: Leopold Dilg (Cary Grant) is a live-in gardener in a suburban New England Household. The house is owned by Nora Shelley (Jean Arthur). She has rented it to renowned Harvard law Professor Michael Lightcap (Ronald Colman) for the summer while he writes a new book. Lightcap hires Nora to be his live-in cook and secretary for a week until his manservant Tilney (Rex Ingram) arrives. In reality Leopold is Nora's childhood friend - who has just escaped from prison, having been convicted of arson and murder. Both Nora and Leopold team up to convince Lightcap that Leopold is innocent and wouldn't get a fair trial if he were recaptured.

Scene: Lightcap visits a salon for a manicure.

Monogram: The manicurist has an initial R embroidered on her blouse.
