Synopsis: Bronco Billy McCoy (Clint Eastwood) is the proud owner of a small traveling Wild West show. Antoinette Lilly (Sondra Locke), an heiress who must marry before she is thirty to receive her inheritance, is dumped by her future husband, who steals their car and is left to fend for herself. She becomes his assistant, but only brings more bad luck to run-down traveling circus. The performers, mostly ex-convicts, haven't been paid for months - and aren't real cowboys.
Scene: After their tent burns down, Billy proposes that they raise money by robbing a train.They try to do this in the standard Western way (riding alongside and jumping on), but are no match for a modern high-speed train.
