Laura - 1944

Movie: Laura - 1944

Director: Otto Preminger

Synopsis: Mark McPherson (Dana Andrews), a New York City Detective, is investigating the murder Laura Hunt (Gene Tierney) - a beautiful and wealthy advertising executive. The murder takes place inside her luxury apartment, before the film begins. Detective McPherson tries to construct a mental picture of the victim by interviewing her neighbors and friends. He becomes obsessed with her - helped along by a portrait of Laura hanging in her apartment. His obsession helps him discover that Laura isn't really dead, and the body belongs to someone else.

Scene: Waldo Lydecker (Clifton Webb), a well know newspaper columnist, and a snob, helped to promote Laura at the beginning of her career. He is one of the men in her life who fell in love with her, and one of Detective McPherson's first interviews. The Detective visits Lydecker in his apartment - where he is taking a bath while typing a column on his typewriter.
