Synopsis: A true blockbuster from MGM in 1938 (all but forgotten now) - the tragic story of Marie Antoinette (Norma Shearer) who a 15 marries the Dauphin Louis XVI (Robert Morley) - the future king of France. the Dauphin is a shy man, unused to women, so she becomes bored and reckless. A chance meeting with the Swedish Count Axel Fersen (Tyrone Power) provides some diversion - more so when he reveals that he has been in love with her - from a distance - for years. King Louis XV (John Barrymore) dies, and the Dauphin and his queen Marie Antoinette ascend to the throne. After producing two children - one the male heir to the throne - the French Revolution arrives, the royal family is taken prisoner, and eventually beheaded.
