James and the Giant Peach - 1996

Movie: James and the Giant Peach - 1996

Director: Henry Selick

Synopsis: Based on the children's story by Roald Dahl, this combination of exaggerated live action, puppetry and animation follows the orphan James (whose parents are unfortunately killed by a rhinoceros). He goes to live with his two horrid aunts , Spiker (Joanna Lumley) and Sponge (Miriam Margolyes) by the English seaside. After saving a spider in the garden, James (voiced by Paul Terry) comes into possession of magic boiled crocodile tongues. When planted, they produce the world's largest peach. James ventures inside after taking a bite of the peach, and discovers an assortment of odd creatures, who agree to help him realize his dream of travelling to New York.

Scene: Having just crawled up inside the peach - and transformed from live character to animated puppet - James is confronted by a Centipede (voiced by Richard Dreyfus), and Earthworm (voiced by David Thewlis), a Spider (voiced by Susan Sarandon), a Glowworm (voiced by Miriam Margolyes), and a Ladybug (voiced by Jane Leeves).

Monogram: Trying to convince James that not only the garden creatures have changed in size and appearance, but that he has also, the Ladybug produces a mirror from her purse - with the monogram LB on the reverse side.
