Synopsis: Ella (Anne Hathaway) is under a spell - a "gift" given to her at birth by a fairy called Lucinda (Vivica A. Fox). Ella's mother dies, and her father remarries. Her new stepmother (Joanna Lumley) has two mean daughters - Hattie (Lucy Punch) and Olive (Jennifer Higham). They discover her "gift" (obedience) and begin ordering Ella to steal things. Ella is falling in love with Char - Prince Charmont (Hugh Dancy) - and must find a way to rid herself of her obedience curse, and defeat Char's uncle Edgar (Cary Elwes) who is the temporary king.
Scene: Char talking with his uncle's pet snake. The snake plays a major role in the story.
Monogram: Edgar's monogram is on a guard's shield - an E with snake intertwined.
